2 Our project
Our project
Venapium Italia, a registered trademark, was born from the ambition to develop an effective and harmless method of collecting bee venom, and to create a supply chain that is not yet present in Italy today.
Hence the name Venapium Italia, from the contraction of the Latin words Venenum and Apium, “bee poison”.
The heart of Venapium
The fascinating story behind the innovative Venapium Method involves the brilliant minds of Valter Mattei, whose stubbornness in pursuing results led him to a patent that optimizes venom collection; his wife Anna Brandazza, biologist and beekeeper, whose know-how was fundamental in perfecting the system; the historic and well-known beekeeper Aldo Metalori, already inventor of the renowned “Metalori Trap”, as well as author of the book ” Practical guide to pollen production in Italy “, considered a point of reference for the pollen supply chain; and his wife Enrica Pacini, acute advisor, responsible for the logistics of the entire team.
Together they form the driving force behind this visionary project which is set to revolutionize the beekeeping industry.
Supported by passion and a highly qualified team of scholars, they have poured their heart and soul into creating innovative solutions that improve the way bees are managed and raised, thus also making a contribution to a more liveable future on our planet.
A visceral passion
To protect bees
To protect bees
Bees play a crucial role in the pollination of plants, which in turn helps maintain our ecosystems and food supply. However, sometimes weather conditions can be unpredictable and make it more difficult for bees to find the food they need to survive. For this reason, as responsible beekeepers, we provide them with nourishment when they need it most. When the climate is particularly harsh it can be difficult for bees to find the natural food sources they feed on throughout the year. By supplementing their diet with nutritious supplements, we can help ensure they have the energy and resources to continue their work.
In recent years, unfortunately, due to the spread of invasive species in Italy, such as Varroa, the local bee population has suffered serious threats to its survival.
For this reason, we have taken a proactive stance to counter these threats, implementing targeted and appropriate biological interventions to protect our bees from these harmful parasites. Our approach emphasizes the use of ecologically sustainable methods that minimize any impact on surrounding ecosystems, while ensuring the health and well-being of our bee colonies.
To protect bees
In today’s world it is essential to maintain the fundamental goal of conserving the precious life of bees. Bees, and Italian bees in particular, face numerous adversities that could lead to their possible extinction. Our top priority is to provide unconditional support to protect these creatures from frequent threats.
Our efforts are aimed at maintaining the natural habitats of bees, this also includes taking care of their hives and helping them defend their families. Through this, we aim to ensure that bees continue to thrive in our ecosystems, safeguarding the vital role they play in supporting the world’s ecosystem.
Our project is clear: preserve the very foundation of biodiversity, one bee at a time.
To protect the Italian heritage
Italian beekeepers are committed to providing a safe and quality supply chain for all hive products: from honey to pollen, from wax to propolis.
In this particular case, Venapium works to develop a method for the production of "Italian Bee Poison from Italian Bees", focusing above all on the safety of the bees and on the quality of the product, thus offering beekeepers a new useful resource. to carry on beekeeping, an increasingly difficult activity to pursue, without which our bees would already be extinct.
Who knows the world of bees better than beekeepers? Ours is now a symbiotic relationship and a passion.
